Housing within the game "evolves" after gaining certain services and goods from the available resources and supplies within the city. The three different mansions are the Personal Mansion, Family Mansion, and Dynasty Mansion. The player, themselves, also may build a personal mansion, the size of which is determined by what mission is being played. The highest housing units are known as estates. Statues and gardens may also be added to increase to appeal of an area. Higher levels of housing are also required to be located within "nice neighborhoods", determined by a level of "desirability." Desirability can be influenced by any industrial buildings in the general area (dragging the area down), as well as any nearby elegant or stately buildings (making the area more attractive). Solution: If Luxurious Apartments are not a mission goal, do not distribute Tea to the block and simply double food shop capacity.Citizens of Pharaoh's cities occupy several different levels of housing, all of which require certain services to be maintained.Solution: Use the Grand Market Square to double the capacity of food with multiple Food Shops. This is more commonly seen during the Sui-Tang Dynasty, which is caused by the housing demanding more food at Luxurious Apartment level, which then results in mass devolution for certain houses in the block, as the single shop on a Common Market Square cannot hold enough food if Tea is distributed at the same time. Food Shops randomly become unable to get the highest level food quality they require.Grand Market Squares are more useful in Common Housing blocks when Tea becomes available in the Sui Dynasty, as their larger size allows for increased capacity of different goods. When Theatre Pavilions become available, there is no further need to do this, though such buildings are normally used in Elite Housing blocks to provide Drama School access. These limits can be increased by adding additional shops of that type, which allows for more of that good to be stored.īoth of the Market Squares include entertainment areas where musicians and acrobats spread their coverage to housing. The shops normally placed in this square are the Food Shop, Hemp Shop, Ceramics Shop, Silk Shop, Bronzeware/Lacquerware Shop (depending on era) and the Tea Shop.Įach shop has a maximum limit for how much of that good can be obtained by the appropriate market trader.

Market Square is a building found in Emperor: Rise of the Middle Kingdom.
